Calculation of the transfer tax
The calculation of the transfer tax is based on the highest price between the municipal evaluation and the purchase price.
The calculation is as follows for the Province of Quebec (outside of Montreal):
0.5% on the amount up to 52 800$ plus
1.0% on the amount beetween 52 801$ and 264 000$
1.5% on the amount exceeding 264 001$
For the City of Montreal:
add 1.5% on the amount from 264 001$ to 527 900$,
add 2% on the amount from 527 901$ to 1 055 800$
add 2.5% on the amount from 1 055 801$ to 2 041 900$
and 3% on the amount exceeding 2 041 901$
